Faye’s Finds Friday

Today I bring you my latest favorite find. This is not a sponsored post or advertisement. No one sent me any free mascara to review or promote. I did my own research, bought several brands and this was my favorite. All opinions are my own and not influenced by anyone.

If anyone knows me in real life, the one thing I can’t leave the house without is mascara. I feel completely naked without it. If you have short, fine lashes, you understand. I test-drove a pair of lash extensions during a make-up trial pre-wedding and I hated them. They made my eyelids feel so heavy, I just wanted to go to sleep! I know it’s a huge trend right now and it’s something a lot of women rave about, but for me, good old fashioned mascara is enough. Finding the right one is always tricky. There are plenty of drug-store brands that work well enough, but finding that one mascara that lengthens and thickens without clumping, that doesn’t dry out, that separates the lashes just so – that’s a magical thing. Enter Pat McGrath Labs Fetisheyes Mascara. Game changer.

It’s not just that I want thicker, longer lashes. I want dramatically thicker, longer lashes that don’t clump and a mascara that if I pay $30 for it, it better not dry out in a month. I’ve tried countless mascaras and this is my new favorite. It’s a little expensive. I admit, until recently, I was mostly a drugstore make-up girl. But getting older has made me think more about what I put on my skin. I still shop at CVS and target, but I have added a few higher-end products. This also smells fantastic – I think it’s lilacs, but it could be another sweet smelling flower. I know, smell isn’t something you normally look for in a mascara, it’s just a bonus. Also, a little tip a make-up enthusiast friend shared with me that you may already know – don’t pump the wand in and out to get more mascara – that dries it out, instead, swirl it in like you’re screwing it back shut.

PS: You can also buy this at Sephora if it’s easier/more convenient.
