Here we are in the early days of a new decade. It’s daunting to contemplate and plan out goals and such – there is always so much expectation at the start of a new year, nevermind a new decade. And that’s why I’ve taken my time settling into this new year/decade before laying out my goals.
I’m all about giving things that are unique and created by artists this year. Whether that means a good book that happens to be written by one of my friends, or a photograph I took or by a talented photographer friend or a unique design I created or a shoe I designed. Maybe it’s my Gen X perception, but all this talk about “self care” just seems silly and selfish to me. It conjures up images of women in bathtubs drinking wine or spending way too much time and money on spa treatments deemed necessary by all those influencers on Instagram. It grants permission to be selfish and self indulgent and while everyone deserves to treat themselves in whatever way makes them happy, over-emphasizing self-indulgent behaviors under the positive guise of “self care” seems all kinds of wrong to me. I decided to take a look at what self care really means.
What’s new in November? Sweater weather, comfort food, boots and motivational art so you can rise & shine!
Here are the highlights from my recent visit to Austin, TX!
I have been adding more of my photography to my Society 6 shop. These are all originals photos that are available printed on various mediums – paper prints, canvas, framed paper prints, metal prints, wood, tapestry, wallpaper and some even as products, such as stools, coffee tables, side tables, credenzas or backpacks, pouches, tote bags and shirts.
