I kept seeing ads all over FaceBook for this dewy skin miracle tinted moisturizer recommended by GOOP (Gwyneth Paltrow’s baby). Since I’m 46 and have always had dry skin that isn’t getting any dewier with age, I thought, I’ll give it a shot. Now, I’m not a big make-up person. I seldom buy new make-up. When I do, it’s to replenish one of my standbys that’s run out. I’m also not into spending a lot on make-up. I buy drugstore mascara and lipstick or gloss. I’ve got MAC and Chanel eye shadows I purchased on a whim from over 10 years ago still hanging out in my make-up bag. Mostly, I rely on my coworker or my mom giving me their freebies from purchasing their Clinique or Lancome products. I use the purple shadows and the pink lipsticks just like I did back in the 80s. My standby foundation is Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover in Creamy Vanilla. I splurge on this because it covers EVERYTHING without making my skin look dry. Zits, redness, dark circles – gone or at least minimized as much as possible.
So, I ordered the Beautycounter Dew Skin SPF 20 and it arrived in perfect packaging – why wouldn’t anything Gwyneth does be perfect? I set out to try it the other day as I got ready for work. The photo above shows the right side (my right) of my face with the Beatycounter Dew Skin and the left side without. It really did add a dewiness to my skin, was tinted enough to cover the redness (but not the dark circles) and smoothed out some bumps. I assume the smoothing is the light reflecting off the dewiness. Overall for just $3 more than my Estee Lauder, it worked well. I like that it reflects light more than my stand-by and I’ll see how it is in the summertime.
